Volvo EX30 MY 2027 adds 110 kW (150 hp) entry version and updated tech

Right now, even the least powerful Volvo EX30 puts out 200 kW (272 hp), which gives the B-SUV genuinely brisk performance - the 0 to 100 km/h run in 5.7s is proof of that. They are figures you might normally associate with a hot hatch, yet here they belong to the entry version of Volvo’s smallest and most affordable electric SUV.

That may be exactly why Volvo is preparing a new, lower-output access variant with a more restrained 110 kW (150 hp). In the brand’s own words, it is the “power you need for the person who needs a premium electric experience for everyday journeys”.

This new option delivers around half the output of the previous base model, which is expected to remain in the line-up. It also keeps the same 51 kWh and 69 kWh batteries - translating to ranges of up to 339 km and 476 km. Those figures are almost the same as the 200 kW (272 hp) version: 335 km and 475 km. Although Volvo has not yet published pricing for the new variant, it is expected to come in below the current €38,632.

Are there more updates?

The new entry-level version is part of a broader model update (MY 2027), focused on a technology boost, a refreshed interface, and new interior options.

Starting with the interface (infotainment system), Volvo has reworked it to make frequently used functions easier to reach. The settings area has also been reorganised, with menu navigation simplified.

In addition, the Volvo EX30 will start offering Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) in certain markets. This feature allows the EX30’s battery to act as a power source to run or charge external devices - such as electric bikes, tools, or camping gear - using a dedicated adapter.

Both the updated interface and the V2L function will also be made available to existing EX30 owners through over-the-air updates, scheduled for the summer.

New interiors

Inside, two new themes will be offered: “Harvest”, defined by lighter, more neutral tones, and “Black”, which adopts a darker look. The latter will also become part of the Black Edition offering.

There are also changes for the Cross Country version, which will now be available with Plus equipment levels and a single-motor (rear) configuration. Until now, this variant was only offered with two electric motors and all-wheel drive.

When does it arrive?

Volvo has not yet confirmed specific dates for the start of sales of the EX30 (MY 2027), but it is expected soon. Prices have not been announced either.
