Ferrari reveals first technical details of the Elettrica electric supercar

After years of rumours-punctuated by a few spy shots-Ferrari has now shared the first technical details of the Elettrica, the company’s first ever 100% electric model.

The announcement came during Capital Markets Day 2025, signalling the start of a new chapter for the Maranello brand. With more than 1000 cv available in boost mode and a 0–100 km/h time of just 2.5s, the Elettrica is positioned to reset expectations for electric performance.

Ferrari says it would only launch an EV once the technology could meet its own standards for performance and driving emotion. By the look of it, that threshold has now been reached.

Ferrari Elettrica platform and powertrain

The Elettrica is built on an all-new platform engineered from the ground up in Maranello. Both the chassis and the bodywork are made using 75% recycled aluminium, a choice that Ferrari claims cuts CO₂ by 6.7 tonnes for every unit produced.

In total there are four electric motors-two per axle-for a combined output above 1000 cv. Although it features four-wheel drive, the front axle can be disengaged, effectively turning the Elettrica into a rear-wheel-drive model.

Battery, charging and WLTP range

Power comes from a battery with a gross capacity of 122 kWh and a record energy density of 195 Wh/kg. The car uses an 800 V architecture, and Ferrari states that the entire system was developed in-house.

The battery pack is integrated into the floor structure, helping to lower the centre of gravity by around 80 mm compared with a similar model fitted with an internal combustion engine. Fast charging reaches 350 kW, while range exceeds 530 km (WLTP).

An electric Ferrari that still “speaks Italian”

As with every Ferrari, sound has not been treated as an afterthought. Rather than piping in an artificial soundtrack, the Elettrica amplifies the mechanical vibrations of the electric system. Ferrari likens the idea to an electric guitar, aiming to create a more authentic connection between driver and machine.

The third-generation active suspension is a direct evolution of the system used in the Purosangue and the F80, with the ability to adapt 200 times per second. It can also manage vertical, longitudinal and lateral forces independently, which Ferrari says delivers a striking balance between comfort and precision.

The Ferrari Elettrica retains the traditional forward driving position associated with mid-engined berlinettas, helping maintain a direct relationship between the driver and the front axle. A short chassis and a new flexible rear subframe-the first in Ferrari’s history-have the “mission” of cutting vibration and noise without sacrificing structural stiffness.

In front of the driver, the steering wheel keeps the classic Manettino on the right, used to select driving modes. On the Elettrica, it is joined by an eManettino on the left, where energy management settings and traction levels are configured.

There are three main modes-Range, Tour and Performance-and five torque delivery steps, selected via the paddles behind the wheel to mimic the progressive feel of a gearbox.

Unveiling in 2026

With a top speed of 310 km/h, the Ferrari Elettrica blends Formula 1-derived technology with a fresh chapter in Maranello craftsmanship. The world debut of the final design-inside and out-is scheduled for spring 2026, when the first Ferrari powered exclusively by electricity will be revealed.
