Fiat 500X Dolcevita: a semi-open crossover
Just like the smaller 500C, the larger Fiat 500X crossover has now gained a (nearly) open-top version called Dolcevita, made possible by the addition of a soft top. This idea was previewed a few months ago with the launch of the 500X Yachting special edition.
It is not a “true” convertible like, for instance, the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabrio, and this new soft top does not slide back as far as the one on the 500C. Only the central portion of the roof can be retracted, while the tailgate remains the same as on the standard 500X.
Even so, the new soft top opens in just 15 seconds at the touch of a button, and it can be operated at speeds of up to 100 km/h. Because only the middle roof section is affected, boot capacity stays the same as in the rest of the 500X line-up.
Soft-top colours and the updated 500X range
On the new Fiat 500X Dolcevita, the soft top is offered in three colours - black, grey and red - to better match the 10 body colours available.
The 500 family, which includes the 500X, the iconic 500 and the 500L, was refreshed at the start of 2021. As part of that update, the crossover range was reorganised into three versions: Connect, Cross and Sport. All three can be paired with this new semi-open Dolcevita variant.
Dolcevita Launch Edition and Yacht Club Capri, the special series
To mark the arrival of the Fiat 500X Dolcevita, the Italian brand also unveiled two special series: the Dolcevita Launch Edition and the Yacht Club Capri.
The Fiat 500X Dolcevita Launch Edition stands out in Gelato White, with chrome and brushed accents on the front end, bumpers and mirrors, plus a silver “beauty line” running along the exterior. It also comes with 18-inch wheels featuring blue detailing.
Inside, the highlights are the white Soft Touch seats inspired by the world of sailing, along with a white dashboard and chrome decorative elements on the gear lever, plus bespoke floor mats.
The Fiat 500X Yacht Club Capri was developed with one of Italy’s most exclusive Yacht Clubs. It comes in a sea-inspired shade, paired with a blue soft top. That same tone also appears on the “beauty line” and the 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, as with the Dolcevita Launch Edition, the Yacht Club Capri features white Soft Touch seats and, as an option, a wooden dashboard inspired by the nautical world.
When will it arrive and how much will it cost?
Finally, the new Fiat 500X Dolcevita is available with every engine currently offered in the range: the Firefly petrol units - 1.0 Turbo with 120 hp and 1.3 Turbo with 150 hp - plus the Multijet (Diesel) with a 1.3 l displacement and 95 hp.
The new model can already be ordered, but prices have not yet been announced, except for the Fiat 500X Yacht Club Capri, which starts at €30 869 for the 1.0 Turbo with 120 hp.
