Nearly a year on from KGM arriving in Portugal, the brand has just expanded its line-up with the Musso EV, its first 100% electric *pick-up. The model is set to go on sale in the Portuguese market later this month, with prices starting from *45 900 euros**.
KGM Musso EV exterior and load-carrying practicality
On the outside, the Musso EV adopts a tough, muscular look, with full LED lighting and chunky bumpers that underline the rugged character you’d expect from a pick-up. It also features roof rails and lighting for the load bed, which is rated for up to 500 kg of payload. To boost comfort, KGM has fitted a multi-link rear suspension.
Cabin layout and equipment (K3 and K5)
Inside (gallery above), the dashboard is dominated by a wide digital panoramic panel made up of two 12,3’’ screens - one central display and another for the instrument cluster. Specification depends on the chosen trim level (K3 or K5).
In entry-level K3 form, the Musso EV comes as standard with dual-zone automatic air conditioning, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a wireless smartphone charging pad, two USB-C ports, rain and light sensors, keyless entry and start, and a V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) system.
The range-topping K5 adds a 3D monitoring system for the area around the vehicle, an underfloor view function, plus a heated steering wheel and heated seats.
When it comes to safety and driver assistance, the Musso EV includes lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, among other systems.
Two powertrains, two ranges
KGM’s electric pick-up can be specified with front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive:
- 4X2 version: front-mounted motor producing 152 kW (207 cv) and 339 Nm. It completes 0-100 km/h in 9,2s, with a top speed of 162 km/h.
- 4×4 version: two motors (one on each axle) with a combined output of 175 kW (237 cv) and 630 Nm. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8,0s and reaches 177 km/h.
Both use an LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery with a capacity of 80,6 kWh, delivering a WLTP combined range of up to 420 km for the front-wheel-drive version and 379 km for the four-wheel-drive model.
DC rapid charging is rated at up to 300 kW, enabling the battery to be topped up to 80% in 36 minutes. The Musso EV also features intelligent regenerative braking and four driving modes: Eco, Sport, Smart and Winter.
