Tesla Model 3 Standard arrives in Portugal from 36 990 euros

The wait is over: the Tesla Model 3 Standard is officially coming to Portugal, and we already know how much it will cost.

After being unveiled exclusively for the North American market in October, the Model 3 Standard has now made its way to Europe and becomes the cheapest Tesla ever, with prices starting at 36 990 euros.

Tesla has also used this announcement to reshape the Model 3 range structure in Europe. The entry-level versions are now called Standard, while the Long Range variants adopt the Premium name-exactly as previously happened with the Model Y.

The only version left unchanged is the Performance, which has already been through the Razão Automóvel garage.

What changes in the Model 3 Standard?

To "cut" the Model 3’s price, the American brand removed several items of equipment from its saloon and swapped out a number of interior materials.

Unlike the Model Y Standard, there are virtually no exterior differences compared with the other versions in the line-up (unless you count the Model 3 Performance).

The most noticeable change is the wheels: the new 18” alloys (now called Prismata) feature fresh black plastic aero covers designed to maximise aerodynamic efficiency.

And inside?

The biggest differences are found inside the Model 3 Standard. Even so, it keeps the panoramic glass roof-unlike what happened with the equivalent Model Y version.

The seats are also completely new. Instead of a synthetic leather finish (white or black), they are now trimmed in fabric. In addition, the front seats are no longer ventilated, although they still offer heating and electric adjustment.

Among the items that have been removed are the electric steering wheel adjustment, the ambient lighting system, and the 8” rear multimedia display.

On top of that, both the door mirrors and the ventilation vents are now adjusted manually. The audio system is simpler too, with only seven speakers.

Even with this slimmer equipment list, the Tesla Model 3 Standard retains features such as Sentry Mode, Dog Mode, Remote Climate Control, Phone Key, the trip planner with real-time Supercharger availability, and games and entertainment options (streaming services and YouTube are included).

Autopilot remains standard, with core functions such as Autosteer and cruise control. As an option, for an additional 3800 euros, buyers can add Enhanced Autopilot.

More than 534 km of range

As is typical, Tesla has not confirmed the power figure for the rear electric motor, nor has it specified which battery pack is used. However, rumours suggest an LFP battery with 60 kWh capacity and a rear-mounted drive unit producing 283 cv (208 kW).

What is confirmed is a certified consumption figure of 13 kWh/100 km and a maximum combined WLTP range of up to 534 km. AC charging is rated at up to 11 kW, while DC charging reaches up to 170 kW.

Top speed is set at 201 km/h, and the 0 to 100 km/h sprint is completed in 6,2s. Another key change on the Tesla Model 3 Standard is the suspension, which is notably less sophisticated than on the model’s other variants.
