Dacia Extreme trim for Sandero Stepway, Duster, Jogger and Spring

In 2021, when Luca de Meo, Chief Executive Officer of the Renault Group, unveiled the Renaulution strategic plan, it was clear that Dacia’s route forward would need to build on the success it has enjoyed over the past 15 years - while also broadening its scope.

Some of that shift will become visible as soon as next year, with the reveal of the production version of the Bigster, a C-segment SUV.

Other parts of the plan are already well under way, and one of the most significant steps has effectively been completed: in 2022, Dacia rolled out a new visual identity across its entire model range at the same time, underlining a more modern positioning.

Now the focus is on amplifying the more adventurous character of its line-up, without ever losing sight of Dacia’s essentials-first approach - and always keeping the strong value-for-money appeal that has long been part of Dacia’s DNA.

That latest move is now strengthened with the launch of the Extreme equipment level, which pushes Dacia models further towards a tougher, more outdoors-inspired look and feel.

Extreme is available on the Sandero Stepway, Duster, Jogger and Spring, and it can be paired with every engine option offered on the relevant models - with one exception: the Spring can only be ordered with this trim in the 65 cv version, which is also new.

Design inspired by outdoor living

Extreme versions stand out thanks to distinctive styling details designed to evoke off-road activities, starting with the black protective elements along the sides.

They also introduce new paint choices: Cedar Green (Sandero Stepway, Duster and Jogger) and Slate Blue (Spring). These shades are set off by gloss black wheels and copper accents on the door mirror covers, wheel centres and the lettering on the tailgate.

The same copper theme continues inside. You’ll see it on the door panel trims, the surrounds of the air vents, and (in the Spring) around the central console. The seat stitching also adopts the copper colour, and the seats themselves use a new MicroCloud fabric (velvet-like) that is particularly easy to clean.

Aimed at outdoor use as well are the new rubber floor mats. They are thicker than before and feature topographic-style patterns that add a more adventurous look, while also being very easy to wash.

More support off-road

In 4×4 form, the Duster remains the most capable Dacia off-road by a wide margin. Even so, the Romanian brand has introduced a technology on the Sandero Stepway and Jogger (only in Extreme specification) intended to improve how these two front-wheel-drive models cope when the surface gets more challenging.

Called Extended Grip, the system adjusts how the ESP and traction control operate to optimise grip in tougher conditions. It can even allow one of the front wheels to spin faster to help the car clear an obstacle.

Spring with a new powertrain

Alongside adopting the new Extreme equipment level, the electric Dacia Spring also receives a more powerful new powertrain rated at 65 cv.

To achieve the increase, the electric motor now runs at a significantly higher maximum speed (14 700 rpm versus 8 500 rpm in the 45 cv version). The single-speed gearbox has also been revised to send more torque to the wheels.

As a result, the 65 cv Spring is notably stronger for both initial acceleration and in-gear response: it goes from 0 to 50 km/h in 3,9s, which is 1,9s quicker than the Spring 45. The time required to accelerate from 80 to 120 km/h is cut to almost half (13,5s compared with 26s).

As for the battery, capacity remains unchanged at 27,4 kWh. However, in 65 cv form the Spring claims 10 km less range (220 km in total) on the WLTP combined cycle, while still quoting up to 305 km on the urban cycle.
