Toyota Corolla Cross 2025 gets a refreshed look and new GR Sport version

Originally launched in 2022, the Toyota Corolla Cross 2025 now arrives with a refreshed look and a new GR Sport version, a badge already seen across other models from the Japanese brand.

The most obvious change on the Corolla Cross 2025 is at the front. The upper grille has been slimmed down to a narrow opening between the headlights, shifting the visual focus to the lower intake. This lower section is now larger and features a “honeycomb” pattern. Toyota says this new arrangement improves airflow to the engine. At the rear, the updates are limited to a new lighting signature.

Inside, the revisions are more understated. There is a new gear selector and a larger centre console, which provides extra storage space.

Beyond that, it keeps its key strengths: a 10.5" central display and a 12.3" digital instrument cluster, both fitted as standard. Wireless phone charging is now standard as well, while the options list highlights heated seats and a heated steering wheel.

Toyota also promises a better-insulated cabin, thanks to the use of new “high damping” materials where the roof is joined.

Is GR Sport just for looks?

The standout addition to the Toyota Corolla Cross 2025 range is, unquestionably, the introduction of the GR Sport version. The GR letters, short for Gazoo Racing, bring to mind some of today’s benchmark performance cars. In this case, we regret to say, it is little more than an equipment line.

This new version leans into a sportier appearance, with 19" alloy wheels, an exclusive grille, and Toyota badges finished in gloss black. Inside, you’ll find GR logos and red stitching on the Alcantara seats.

If you are hoping for extra performance, you will not find it here. The GR Sport sticks with the hybrid powertrains already on sale in the SUV range.

There are, however, chassis changes: the Corolla Cross GR Sport comes with suspension lowered by 10 mm. It also adds a Sport mode, unique to this version, which adjusts accelerator response and deceleration (regenerative braking).

Hybrid-only range

When it comes to powertrains, nothing changes. The Toyota Corolla Cross 2025 remains committed to hybrid systems that do not require external charging.

The hybrid setup combines a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery (2 kWh). As before, there are two versions:

Hybrid 140: 140 hp, 0-100 km/h in 10s, top speed of 170 km/h;
Hybrid 200: 197 hp, 0-100 km/h in 7.7s, top speed of 180 km/h.
