Following the EV6 and EV9 GT, Kia has offered a glimpse of the next member of its performance-pedigree line-up: the EV4 GT. This is the model tasked with becoming the brand’s first electric hot hatch.
Due to reach the market in 2026, it was shown wearing a fresh decorative film - called the GT Wrap - which Kia says is intended to suggest motion, energy and speed. The wrap is set to be used on prototypes that preview upcoming GT family models.
Even so, eye-catching as the livery is, it is hard not to push it into the background and focus on what is underneath.
First public appearance at Tannistest
There are still no official figures, but Kia’s new sporting family member has been spotted at Tannistest, an event held in northern Denmark linked to the selection of finalists for the European Car of the Year 2026.
Among those able to get up close to this proposal - still in prototype form for now - was British magazine Autocar, which inspected it at close quarters and shared a few details about the new Kia EV4 GT after an “in person” first encounter.
Twin-motor configuration and performance
According to the publication, Kia’s new performance model will use a two-motor layout - one motor per axle - expected to combine for a maximum output close to 400 hp.
That figure would tally with the roughly five seconds recorded for the 0 to 100 km/h sprint, based on the measuring equipment fitted on board.
Kia EV4 GT: under the wrap
Although the new film is meant to disguise what lies beneath, the truth is there is not much left to hide. The Kia EV4 GT prototype already reveals new 20-inch wheels, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, alongside larger brake calipers finished in a neon yellow shade.
That is matched by a more assertive look, with sportier bumpers at both ends. Inside, the English publication notes that the front seats appear to sit lower, aiming to increase the sense of connection between driver and car.
Looking closer, you can spot multiple accents in the same neon yellow as the brake calipers. These include the seatbelts, trim details on the seats (with areas upholstered in Alcantara), and the familiar GT button on the steering wheel, used to activate the sportiest settings for a more committed drive.
Anything else?
For now, that is all we can confirm. To learn more, we will have to keep waiting for the official unveiling of this more performance-focused EV4 variant, planned for next year.
