Peugeot e-308: the Peugeot 308 goes fully electric for the first time

The Peugeot 308 has become a genuine sales success in Portugal. Now, after 10 generations of compact family cars and more than 90 years of heritage, it is appearing for the first time as a fully electric model.

Alongside the PureTech (petrol), BlueHDI (diesel) and plug-in hybrid options, the line-up now also includes the e-308 versions powered solely by electricity.

On the outside, the changes are deliberately subtle - Peugeot has chosen to retain the key styling cues of a model that picked up a Red Dot Awards 2022 distinction. Technologically, however, the differences are significant:

Peugeot e-308: which one should you choose?

Just like the wider Peugeot 308 range - with prices starting at 26 160 euros - the e-308 is offered as both a hatchback and an estate.

The e-308 hatchback - featured in the highlighted video - starts at 42 000 euros in Allure specification. The estate costs an additional 1.000 euros with the same equipment level.

In terms of interior space, there is no change. Passenger room remains identical, whether you are seated in the front or in the rear. The French brand sums up this approach in a single line: “in a compact family model, space cannot be an issue”.

Range above 410 km

Range and efficiency are among the most valued qualities in a 100% electric car. The French brand claims class-leading figures for the Peugeot e-308 among compact family estates: 412 km of WLTP range.

According to Peugeot, reaching this figure was only possible thanks to Stellantis’s new electric system and aerodynamic refinements introduced by the brand’s engineers. The underside of the Peugeot e-308 is now completely flat to cut drag, and the front grille is fully closed.

As for the motor, it uses Stellantis’s latest electric unit. Known as the M3, it produces 156 cv and 260 Nm of maximum torque. Top speed is 170 km/h, electronically limited.

One model, several powertrains

The Peugeot 308 range is built on a multi-energy platform. Prices span from 26 160 euros for the petrol versions to 42 220 euros for the electric versions.

At the top of the Peugeot e-308 line-up sits the GT, which comes with the most extensive equipment offering.

However, regardless of which e-308 version you choose, Peugeot is including a home charging wallbox capable of charging up to 11 kW until the end of the year. Under these conditions, a full charge can be completed in under six hours.
