After already updating the Tipo and the Panda, Fiat has turned its attention to the successful “500 family”, refreshing the ranges for the Fiat 500, 500X and 500L.

While the styling remains unchanged, all three models gain extra technology, new paint colours and revised trim levels.

In terms of trim, there are now four levels: Cult, Dolcevita (exclusive to the 500), Cross (available on the 500X and 500L) and Sport. Alongside specific equipment, each one is designed to give the models a distinct “personality”.

The different “personalities”

The Cult trim aims to capture a “Pop” theme. It introduces the new, exclusive “Sicily Orange” colour, and inside it features blue seats with a new fabric plus a dashboard finished in a specific “Techno Blue” shade.

Dolcevita, inspired by the 1950s model, comes with a dashboard surround in the body colour, a 7-inch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, chrome details, a glass roof (on the three-door) and 15-inch wheels.

As for Cross, the 500X gets new seats, vinyl accents, 19-inch wheels, roof bars and automatic air conditioning. On the 500L, this version includes 16-inch wheels, front fog lights, rear parking sensors, light and rain sensors, and automatic air conditioning.

Finally, with Sport the focus is on a more dynamic look, highlighted by optional “Matt Grey” paint and the “Sport” badge. On the Fiat 500, it includes 16-inch wheels as standard, new seats, automatic air conditioning, a Titanium-coloured dashboard, a 7-inch TFT display and fog lights.

On the 500L Sport, you get 17-inch wheels, city braking assistance, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, specific interior trim, tinted windows and ambient lighting. On the 500X, this trim offers 18-inch wheels (19-inch as an option) and the specific “Matt Moda Grey” colour.

Optional packs complete the equipment

As usual, the technology, safety, comfort and styling equipment can be enhanced via optional packs.

The “Pack Magic Eye”, for the Cross trim, adds parking sensors and a rear camera. The “Pack Navi” and “Pack ADAS” include blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control.

The “Pack Comfort”, available on Cult, Cross and Sport, includes automatic air conditioning and adjustable seats, while the “Pack Visibility” adds Xenon headlights, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and light and rain sensors. Finally, the “Pack Full LED” is also available.

What about the engines?

There are no changes on the engine front. The Fiat 500 is offered with a 70 hp Hybrid (1.0, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated and mild-hybrid) and a 1.2-litre with 69 hp running on LPG, both Euro 6D-Final, with ordering opening in mid-February.

In the 500X line-up, there are two petrol engines - a 1.0 Turbo with 120 hp and a 1.3 Turbo with 150 hp - plus two diesel units: a 1.3 Multijet with 95 hp and a 1.6 Multijet with 130 hp (10 hp more than before).

The 500L is available with a naturally aspirated 1.4 petrol producing 95 hp, along with the 1.3 Multijet diesel also with 95 hp.

For now, prices for the updated Fiat 500, 500X and 500L ranges have not yet been announced.
